Main “Big Picture” Responsibilities at ETS

I work with course coordinators and instructors to design and re-design online courses. This includes supporting instructors in creating an online learning community, engaging learning activities, and intuitive navigation.

Day-to-Day Tasks at ETS

My day-to-day work involves collaborating with faculty and staff in the design of courses. Part of my work involves finding innovative solutions, learner-centered approaches, and engaging intuitive designs for online learning.

Specific areas of interest in the field of Educational Technology

My areas of interest are quite broad. I have spent time researching and working intensively with online discussion forums, learning analytics, digital games, digital storytelling, and learning technology for aging populations. My work at ETS crosses over with all of these areas depending on the course needs. Being a learning designer with ETS gives me an opportunity to share my knowledge, while also learning from the faculty and staff I collaborate with.

Previous work experience related to current role

My previous work has involved the design and facilitation of courses and educational programs for diverse populations. This has included teaching courses at Simon Fraser University and Vancouver Island University as well as many community programs. In addition, I have conducted research involving educational technology and learning design for the past nine years. My most recent experience was working at the University of Sydney as a Post-doctoral research associate which included supporting professors with monthly online seminars and designing learning programs in collaboration with a large not-for-profit organization.
