Alternative and Authentic Assessments

This session is part of the Celebrate Learning Week events, offered by Learning Designers at the Educational Technology Support unit within the Faculty of Education.

UBC has shaped, and is continuing to shape, the future of assessments and assignments through alternative and authentic formats. This session is an exploration of alternative and authentic assessments and their place in online learning.

In this session you will:

• Expand opportunities for students to engage in their learning while also connecting with wider communities of practice.
• Explore ways to apply varying forms of formative and summative assessment.
• Develop additional skills, fluencies and competencies that may move your assessment practices beyond traditional written assignments or presentations.
