July 17: Canvas Orientation with Stoo Sepp and Amanda Punch

This hands on orientation will prepare you to complete these popular tasks in Canvas:

  • Navigate in Canvas
  • Set the course layout and organize course material
  • Create assignments
  • Communicate and interact with students
  • Create groups
  • Manage grades in the Gradebook

July 18: Canvas Gradebook & Library Online Course Reserves with Ian Linkletter & Jenny Zhu

We will take an in-depth look at the gradebook and the & Library Online Course Reserves. By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Set assignment grade as points, percentage, complete/incomplete, or not graded.
  • Set up weighted assignment groups. For example: 5 reflection posts counts as 40% of the final mark, 2 presentations counts as 35% of the final mark, etc.
  • Use rubrics
  • Use Speedgrader to give a grade and provide feedback (by text, audio, or video) for assignments, discussions, and quizzes
  • Temporarily hide grades and feedback from student view until you finish grading all the submissions
