What is it?

ClassDojo is an app that helps teachers to connect with students and parents. Teachers can get parents engaged by sharing photos and videos of classroom activities, and messaging them directly about their child’s progress. Students can also showcase their learning by adding photos to their portfolio. Teachers can also encourage students for developing certain skills, such as ‘working hard’ or ‘helping others’ – but all skills can be customized! To make learning more fun, each student can pick their own monster avatar.

Why this app?

Through sharing photos and videos, as well as teachers being able to easily communicate with parents through direct messages, ClassDojo helps build a community between teachers, students and parents. Positive feedback from recognizing different skills motivates students to work harder, and having a portfolio called allows students to showcase. ClassDojo can also be used to facilitate classroom activities through tools in the Toolkit, such as Think Pair Share that lets students to collaborate on a challenging problem. The app also allows students to draw on photos, which can be useful for labeling diagrams and saves printing worksheets.
